ELS Experience and Diversity
The first ELS Language Center opened in 1961, and since then ELS has helped millions of students from over 140 countries learn English quickly and effectively. ELS offers many attractive locations in the United States – most on university campuses. Students can choose from a variety of programs including full-time or part-time general group programs, a Prep Program for the TOEFL® iBT, the new Preparation Programs for the GRE® and GMAT®, Business English, private instruction for Executives, or youth vacation programs.
Quality Instruction and Study Tools
ELS Language Centers is fully accredited by ACCET (the U.S. government-recognized body responsible for oversight of ESL schools). ELS materials, curriculum and tests are results of extensive research development by leading scholars and professionals in the field. ELS also offer Language Technology Centers containing the latest multimedia technology for learning English.
Three Pathways to University Acceptance
ELS offers students three paths toward fulfilling their English language requirement for admissions into US universities and colleges: 1) acceptance of a designated level of the ELS Intensive English Program in place of the TOEFL® at more than 550 universities and colleges in the USA (see www.collegedirectory.els.edu) taking the TOEFL® iBT at any one of ELS’ centers, or 3) taking the IELTS™ test at one of our many dedicated ELS IELTS™ testing centers.
Location & Housing Choices
ELS offers a choice of over 50 study locations in a variety of environments throughout the USA – most on university campuses. Students can chose to live in a student residence (many of which are on campus) or in a homestay with a local American family. Apartment option may also be available at some locations for students who wish to stay with their families. Students can enjoy the use of campus facilities and find lots of opportunities to interact with American students.
An American Adventure
All ELS Centers plan a wide range of activities for students, from sightseeing visits to local attractions, to sporting events, to trips to nearby theaters, museums, and restaurants, and more. And through our Contact America! Program, students can practice their English with Americans while enjoying a variety of planned activities together. Youth vacation programs and the Summer @ The Juilliard School program also provide students with a fun and safe vacation study opportunity.
The ELS Language Centers Guarantees
ELS is so confident in the quality of our Intensive English Program that we give our students a written guarantee. If a students feel his/her English skills are unsatisfactory after successfully graduating from Level 112 (Intensive Program), he/she may return to an ELS USA location within one year of leaving the program, tuition-free for additional study.
